THE CHALLENGE

No Compromise

At Hollywood House the brief was to create something that was truly special – a cinema room that the stars of the big screen would be proud to call their own. There could be no compromise in quality for this cinema room. Hollywood styling with a minimalistic edge was to ensure there was no distractions once the opening scene was set in motion, guaranteeing nothing could compromise on the enjoyment of the favourite films of these dedicated movie fans. Experiencing the highest level of comfort, this would be a space where there is nothing left to chance as you sit back and allow yourself to be fully immersed and drawn completely into the world of cinema.

THE SOLUTION

Subtlety of Sound

A director can record anything down to just 22db, which might be the sound of a mouse or of a person breathing on screen. Only with the right acoustics and control of ambient noise levels can you fully appreciate these moments, particularly when you think that a projector can create 35db. On this project, the Clarke Infinity team began by ensuring the acoustics and ambient noise levels were perfect, covering the whole of the lower wall and the rear wall with 30mm of absorber while also adding base tubes in the front wall to bring the bass end nicely under control. Lighting in the room was provided via ceiling and side lights, adding to the sense of drama, while bespoke seating ensured the highest level of comfort.

THE SOLUTION

An Immersive Experience

The cinematic set up itself was state of the art. A Sony VPL-XW5000 projector was partnered with a 3m Impact Screen Solutions Amleto F9169B microperforated fixed frame projection screen. Adding to the tech was an Anthem MDX-8 eight channel power amplifier, the Storm Core 16 processor and a Kaleidescape 6TB Server Strato package 4K Ultra HD movie player. For the audio, Wisdom Audio Insight speakers joined forces with a Wisdom 8 channel power amplifier and a set of Sonance i10 Impact Series 300 watt powered subwoofers, plus a Sonos Port to provide a versatile streaming component for your stereo or receiver to stream music or link to internet radio etc. Watching movies or listening to music in this space has become an immersive experience in every possible sense.
